Kathy Kennedy has 26 years of
combined experience as a teacher, principal,
central office administrator and educational
consultant. She is a teaching professional who
is truly a promoter of teaching and learning.
Kathy is the president of KLK Consulting, Inc.
and is recognized nationally as an authority on
teaching and learning strategies, leadership
development, and creating lessons that engage
all learners.
Kathy has provided high-impact training and
development exercises for thousands of educators
and business professionals. Kathy is a
practicing educator and serves as an Associate
Superintendent of Instructional Design and
Innovation with the Moore County Schools in
North Carolina where she provides direction,
curriculum support, and instructional leadership
opportunities for administrators and teachers.
Kathy’s former school was named a National Blue
Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of
Education and the school was praised for
effective school characteristics to include
active teaching and learning strategies, student
empowerment, stakeholder involvement, and strong
instructional leadership. Additionally, Kathy’s
dedication and resiliency have proven
instrumental in leading the school to receive
other prestigious awards to include the “NC Top
25 Schools Award” and the “Governor’s
Entrepreneurial Award”. During the three years
of her leadership, academic achievement soared,
the achievement gap significantly declined, and
discipline referrals to the office decreased,
while parent and community involvement increased
tremendously. Today, over 90% of the students at
the school achieve on grade level with no
discernable difference between subgroups.
Kathy received her BA in Education from Concord
College in Athens, WV, her MA in Education with
a specialization in Educational Leadership from
University of North Carolina at Pembroke and is
currently a doctoral student at Wingate
University. She is truly a teacher of teachers
and has enjoyed teaching students in grades
K-12, demonstrating effective teaching
strategies at each level. Kathy resides in
Fayetteville, NC with her husband, Charles,
their twin sons, Kyle and Casey, and their
puppy, Riley.
